We’ve called the historic Glen Rock Mill our home since 1954. If you’ve had the pleasure of visiting us here, you know just how wonderful it is to take in the scenery, listen to the brook, and marvel at the old stone building in which we make and sell all of our pottery. Let this tote bag, featuring a sketch of Glen Rock Mill by Rodman Noka, be a happy reminder of this beautiful area wherever you go.
About the artist:
The image on the new canvas bag is the work of Christopher Rodman Noka (1894-1970), who everyone knew as Rodman Noka. It dates from the mid to late 1950s and shows the clerestory that was on the upper building until a fire in 1971. Mr. Noka was an artist and sign painter who lived in Wakefield. He also painted the "peter pots pottery" on the chimney of Glen Rock mill. The South County History Center has a collection of his work and we have an oil painting he did of Hanson’s boatyard on Salt Pond. Rodman Noka was a Native American and a descendant of Chief Ninigret of Charlestown and also part of the Rodman family of mill owners.
