Chick Salt and Pepper shakers were a staple of the early Peter Pots line and those made after 1958 have the holes in the back and the corks in the top. The first Chick Salt and Peppers appeared in the 1955 catalog and were the opposite: holes in the top and the cork in the back. These are exceptionally rare and we debated about whether to offer them for sale or keep them in our museum case. We have seen only one other pair. These are in Mahogany Brown and in perfect condition with new corks. 3” height. As we are fond of saying, these are period examples of Mid-Century Modern; the real thing from the mid-20th century.
