Matte Mocha Mug Set 1960s
Matte Mocha Mug Set 1960s
$240.00
These are likely the only set of mugs in existence with a matte mocha glaze. This set of six was made to see if glaze could be applied by dipping rather than spraying, and the matte mocha was an experimental color that was never repeated. Otherwise, these six cups are our standard 1960s coffee cups. They were made at the same time but three are from a batch of deep red clay and three are from a tan clay. Clay body color varied a lot during the 1960s and this may have been to see if the glaze worked on both. Five are perfect and ring like a bell, one has an internal hairline crack. Each is 3” diameter, 3 3/4” tall.
