This is an example of the familiar mid-century rectangular ashtray made from the late 1940s through the 1960s. Judging by the clay color, glaze, and signature, this one is from the mid to late 1950s, made in Kingston after 1954. The unusually brilliant early Seagull Blue glaze flows towards the center and shows lots of brown overtones at the edges. Almost 70 years old and in perfect and seemingly unused condition. Heavy and solid, 6 3/4” x 6 3/4”.
